About the Futures tour

The Tate & Lyle Players Championship is the longest running tournament, and the only major championship, on the Duramed FUTURES Tour. This year, the tournament will take place June14 - 20, 2010 at Hickory Point Golf Club. The tournament will feature one of the largest purses on the tour at $125,000 and showcase a four day, all caddied, 72-hole stroke play professional tournament.

For almost 30 years, the Tate & Lyle Players Championship has been a fixture on the Decatur summer calendar. Fans throughout Central Illinois travel to Decatur to watch as 144 players from the United States, and around the world, compete to earn their spot on the LPGA Tour. Past champions have included two-time winner Tammie Green, Marilyn Lovander, Vicky Hurst, and four-time Rolex LPGA Player of the Year Award winner Lorena Ochoa.

The LPGA's developmental tour, the Duramed FUTURES Tour, enters its 30th competitive season in 2010. The Tour’s mission is to prepare the world’s best young women professional golfers for a successful career on the LPGA Tour. The top 10 money winners each season earn automatic memberships on the LPGA Tour for the following season. With more than 500 alumnae moving on to the LPGA, former Duramed FUTURES Tour players have won a total of 353 LPGA titles, including 37 major championships. The Tour is playing for a record season purse of $1.85 million in 2010. Duramed FUTURES Tour events have contributed more than $4.65 million to charitable organizations throughout the nation since 1989.
